Trevon Duval will be one of the main components in driving the offense for Duke this season as the starting point guard. For the past couple of years, the Blue Devils haven't had a true point guard and had to rely on Grayson Allen to run the point guard, even though Allen isn't a point guard. Now with Duval, Duke will not have to rely on Allen, and Duval's play will give guys like Gary Trent Jr. and Allen open oportunites and play less minutes at the point guard.
Aside from Grayson, Duval will utilize his ability as an amazing passer to most likely lead Duke in assists. When Duval is on the court, he'll be the one to bring up the ball and facilitate the offense, putting pressure off of Allen having to be the Blue Devil's primary facilitator and scorer. Besides his passing ability, Duval is also a great defender in that he'll steal the ball a lot and most of his shots will come around the rim. However, the downside to Trevon's game is by far his jumpshot and his three point shooting. Although he shoots threes and mid-range jumpers, don't expect him to hit them at a high rate.
