If it weren't for Marvin Bagley III, you'd be hearing a lot more about Wendell Carter, Jr. With the addition of Bagley, though, Duke now has one of the best PF/C freshmen duo in the country and arguably the best PF/C duo, regardless of class year. As a participant in multiple USA Basketball tournaments, Carter will hopefully use his experience to help push Duke to its potential. Carter's play at the power forward and center position will be key if Duke wants to win another NCAA Championship trophy.
At 6'10" and 258 pounds, it'll be Carter's job -- along with 6'11" Bagley -- to help Duke secure down the rebounds and be a premier shot blocker. Aside from his outstanding rebounding, probably Carter's greatest strength that makes him such a talented player is his post moves. Look for him to dunk the ball often and for him to play mostly around the basket. He has also shown to hit three pointers, but he'll most likely only shoot threes if he's wide open. Carter will also be a double-double machine with points and rebounds for Duke and he'll either be #1 or #2 in rebounding (probably #2 behind Marvin Bagley III).
Take a look at how Wendell Carter Jr. looked in high school. His agility, post moves, and shot blocking ability is what separates him from being a good player to a great player. There's a reason why he was placed on the Karl Malone Award Watchlist (awarded to the best Power Forward in the country), and this highlight reel will go to show you why.
